Packers XLV

Dear P.A.,

Posted January 16th, 2011 @ 04:01am

Just wondering if you got a chance to watch Aaron Rodgers on Saturday night. You know, the guy you rate as the ninth best QB in the league. The guy you called a fantasy football stud only, a big box score guy who can't deliver when the lights are brightest.

So, 31-36 for 366 yards, three TDs and a rushing TD. A passer rating of 136.8. Three playoff games, 10 touchdown passes--most in NFL history. Enough. Move on, find someone else to rip.

Rodgers delivered a playoff performance for the ages in Atlanta, leading the Packers into the NFC title game brimming with confidence and swagger. He has officially arrived as an elite quarterback. A performance like this one gives you your elite wings. The drive that answered the Weems kickoff return showed that he would not be denied on this night. And after an early miscue by Greg Jennings, his receivers came through all night long, particularly Jordy Nelson and James Jones.

Putting 48 points on the board at the Georgia Dome is beyond anyone's dream, but it showed the effect a solid running game can have on an offense. It helped the defense because it took away Michael Turner out of the equation and the Falcons were not a big play team all year long.

The frustrating close losses are a thing of the past. The Pack is peaking and will not be afraid to play at Soldier or Qwest Field next week. But from my standpoint, it needs to be in Chicago next Sunday afternoon. A Packers-Bears NFC title game would be as big as it can possibly get. Nice to be able to watch the game and be in a no lose situation. Whatever happens, the Pack is playing for a trip to the Super Bowl.

Old #4 never had a playoff performance like this. On this night in Atlanta, Aaron Rodgers arrived. And it feels like he and the Packers are just getting started. I know it hurts, Paul. But Aaron Rodgers is the complete package, and he may have more upside than any QB in the league right now.

PA is a douche. I hope he's crying tonight.

on January 15th, 2011 at 10:49pm

Spot. On. If PA doesn't abandon his take that there are eight QB's better than Rodgers in the NFL, then he's lost any credibility he might have had as an NFL analyst.

on January 15th, 2011 at 10:50pm

Hey PA, A. Rodgers 31/36 366 3/0 and 1 rushing td = BOX

on January 15th, 2011 at 10:55pm

Baseball has had perfect games delivered by great pitchers in big games...Don Larsen of the NY Yankees had history's biggest in a World Series. Aaron Rodgers performance was football's version of a perfect game by a QB in a big playoff game. I have harped all year on the 3 big football stats: (1) Turnover ratio 4-1 Pack for a plus 13 points. (2) 10 -13 on third downs with a 9-9 on our first 9. (3) held Atlanta to 6-10 but nothing big and game changing. I said on the earlier blog do not let Michael Turner beat us.....trust Shields, Woodson, and Williams. They came up big with Williams 2 big picks. On offense I said trust AROD let him throw 45 times and MM did with his 31-36. And most importantly MM kept his foot on the accelarator and did not let up. One of the biggest wins in recent Packer history. Davy: Nice lead on your story: see what PA thinks now of AROd....can't wait to hear you Monday on his show......do the eqivalent of a Claymaker sack celebration to him and the Pastor Atlanta guy. I like you want the Bears. First time since 1941 they will play for NFC title. This is so sweet.....lets all enjoy!! GO PACK GO !!

on January 15th, 2011 at 10:56pm

PA is a self-appointed great football mind. Basically, he is inheriting the role of Sid Hartman - a total homer. He has no credibility.

on January 15th, 2011 at 11:01pm

I will await PA's public apology to ARodg and Packer fans on Monday morning. I know PArk will be a stand-up guy on this one.

on January 15th, 2011 at 11:02pm

Jealousy sucks PA. Farve couldn't beat Dallas early in his career but he never put up numbers like this. Good luck with Far... TJa... McNa...Whoever the Vikes end up with.

on January 15th, 2011 at 11:02pm

And this game showed, in comparison, Philly wasn't all that bad, I guess with the theme of Dave's column here, we will forget that the Eagles were only in the game thanks largely to an Aaron Rodgers fumble on about the Pack 25 yard line which was immense to the Eagles cause which they were able to convert to a TD. A lot of it also comes down to receivers or we might see the Ravens playing next weekend as well but for dropped passes! Atlanta really got caught and they gave up the TD at the end of the 2nd Qtr. to go 14 down and then kicked off to Green Bay and it seems that Packer drive lasted about 10 minutes if I have that correct finishing in a TD and now the Falcons down 21 with 20 minutes to play. Possession and being territorial is so much of the game but I note it more in playoff games it seems. AROD has been in my top 3 QBs all season. Not to look ahead but makes one wonder about meeting the Pats with Rodgers and at a neutral site. Positive outlook for the Pack NOT to get ahead of ourselves and they had less rest, sorry, I am rambling on but we really did not see the Southern Teams especially the Falcons play much this year. They will see where they need to improve.

on January 15th, 2011 at 11:23pm

There really is so little too say. What a perfect performance! Tomorrows 8:00 hour is going to be so much fun!!!

on January 15th, 2011 at 11:42pm

I think it's time we believe the hype. Since the Packers are all "hype" anyways. Right?

on January 15th, 2011 at 11:48pm

We so appreciate your website post. You will discover dozens of methods we could put it to good use with no effort in time and hard earned cash. Thank you really pertaining to helping make this post answer many questions we have come across before now.

on January 15th, 2012 at 12:03am

Lets all just be excited that we will have a chance to play that interception machine they call Jay Cutler.

on January 16th, 2011 at 01:30pm

Poor PA! You guys, meaning the Vikes, will always be searching for the next great recycled QB to lead your squad. The thing that the Packers have going right now is a good organization, from the top on down. We know who the QB is gonna be next year. The Vikes? Joe Webb?? Are you serious? Good luck with that. Oh, and enjoy watching the Packers and the Bears duke it out for the right to go to the SUPER BOWL!!!

on January 16th, 2011 at 02:06pm

PA is a homer first and product pimp second, hiding behind 'great football' mind label. He defended Chilly up to the last minute. He slammed Rodgers because that's what his listeners (Vikings rubes) want to hear. He wants ratings.

on January 16th, 2011 at 03:46pm

on January 16th, 2011 at 06:35am

AROD reminds me of the greatest QB in Packer history-Bart Starr....(five world championships). He leads on and off the field. He is all about team first.... Favre was a legend, but when it came down to it, it was still about #4. Can you imagine how much talent this team will have in training camp when all the IR guys are back....we got a lot more fun ahead of us than PA's boys. My new moniker for the Packs QB -AROD is "Mr Cool". The Vikes moniker for their QB is "Mr. Who"

on January 16th, 2011 at 06:43am

I will agree Rodgers is playing an elite level and that PA has him rated a bit low, no apology needed on his behalf as he bleeds purple as do I...Going back to Soldier Field could still be a tough task:)

on January 16th, 2011 at 06:59am

Greg: Hey, how's that draft planning going? Why don't you sit back and enjoy our season?

on January 16th, 2011 at 07:57am

Hey PA- You need to listen to Troy A. who has FINALLY got off his kick as a Packer hater after last night's game.

on January 16th, 2011 at 08:18am

PA will be cordial to you tomorrow I only hope he calls his Atlanta friend for you tomorrow, Payback is so sweet, "I always loved that one." Davey, What time do you come on with PA tomorrow? It seems like it floats from 10:20-11am. Also, does anyone know if the players on IR get rings and pay for the SB? Not saying anything, just saying, er, asking.

on January 16th, 2011 at 08:20pm

I was thinking the same thing Siny... I said it much better then I ever could. What doesnt PA see in A-Rod??? Im thinking we have a NEW member of the Cpt. Cool party... What a week ahead... Packer/Bear week.... Great game coming but A-Rod and the boys keep rolling 27 - 17 and the PACKERS R OFF TO DALLAS

on January 16th, 2011 at 08:43pm

PA really is an embarrassment of nearly Hawk Harrelson proportions. It's permissible and expected to be a homer when you are the "VOX" of a team, but having zero objectivity and actively peddling the hate of other division teams is bush league. I hear a little pesto sauce makes crow more palatable, PA.

on January 16th, 2011 at 08:51am

Often good quarterbacks can be appreciated by everyone. I was never a Niner fan and in fact, kind of hated how they dominated the NFL some years back in the '80s, early '90s but I could still appreciate watching Montana and later, Young. Rodgers is a bit the same way. Or when Walter Payton, Barry Sanders played, it was easy to appreciate them as players for what they did very well, rush and run.

on January 16th, 2011 at 09:19am

Glad that you got a post to PA right after the game. I always listen to the Border Battle, and thus was thinking about PA and every other hater the whole time Rodgers was putting on this performance. Simply amazing. I don't know how anyone can doubt Rodgers any longer. Go Pack Go!

on January 16th, 2011 at 09:38am

Regarding P.A., don't let him fool you. Paul Allen is the biggest closet Packer fan in Minnesota. His droning about ARodge is just a bit for the radio. Deep down he loves our stadium, loves our atmosphere, puts TT up as GM of the year and even has a man-crush on our announcer, Wayne Larravie. If you listen closely, you can hear the admiration he has for Rodgers and our team. He has to say stuff like that (Rodgers ranking) because he is the official voice of the Viqueens. ---- for now though, enough about what PA thinks, I want to know if our very own "Ralphie" thinks that was another "pedestrian performance" by Aaron Rodgers??? Ralphie....... are you out there Ralphie? Go Pack!

on January 16th, 2011 at 10:11am

On another note, Starks keeps improving. No gaudy numbers like last week, but solid in his reads, popped a few good ones and did pretty well in pass protection. One thing I noticed yesterday is what a long stride he has. It doesn't look like there is much but he takes 3 steps and he's suddenly 5 yards downfield. Looking forward to seeing his progression this post-season into next year. (Hopefully, Edgar Bennett talks to him about ball protection though. there were a few plays where it was swinging pretty wide in traffic. That won't cut it against the Bears).

Yeah, I know, but I've been following Packers (and Favre) since 1998 or sointhmeg, so it's not even like it's sointhmeg new. It's just lately I've actually been able to watch the games.

Mitzi I can answer this busaece my family lives down there! You are outside of my color planting schedule by about a month. The trick is, Las Vegas gets so hot in the summer, but you can grow almost all winter long. My book is really for a spring-summer-fall planting schedule. The dates I offer might work for you and others who live in warmer climates, but really have a spring-summer and a fall-winter season. I am very aware of your needs, and itís on my list of things to research and write about. But honestly, I canít speak from experience, only from my research. I encourage you to contact your local extension service (www.extension.org) for a recommended planting schedule.

on May 20th, 2012 at 04:50am

Judy I wish I could tell you! But frost dates are not organized by zip code. You rellay need to go to the and follow the instructions. I just added a screencast to help walk you through the process.Depending on where you live, your frost dates may not be listed in my chart. I am working on a solution for those who have earlier frost dates.

Which web browser were you using? What error message if any did you get? Can you describe exactly what hapepned when you tried to download? Have you been able to successfully download ESN before? Can you download files OK from other sites? Are you using a relatively current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader?
